Confession Time: I love IKEA (and here’s why that’s okay).

I have a confession to make—one that I never expected to be controversial: I love IKEA.

Through multiple apartments and houses, IKEA has been our go-to place for furniture and home essentials. This isn’t a sponsored post (though, IKEA, if you’re reading this—call me). But let’s be real: What if everyone ends up owning the same things? Personally, I don’t care. A home’s uniqueness comes from the people in it and the small touches of personality—not just the sofa or bookcase.

So today, I’m sharing the best IKEA finds in our minimalist home. We don’t buy a lot, so every item here has truly earned its place.

1. VIMLE Sofa — The Perfect Balance of Comfort and Durability

Our VIMLE sofa has been with us for about four years, and it still looks almost new. It’s on the firmer side but still super comfy. The cushions haven’t lost their shape, and the best part? All the covers zip off and can be machine-washed. With kids around, that’s a lifesaver. Ours is in the ‘Gunnared Beige’ color—a beautiful blend of beige and gray.

2. VERAD Rug — Cozy & Stylish

Our previous rug was too small, so we upgraded to the VERAD rug for a better contrast with the floor. At nearly 2×3 meters, it transformed the space, making it feel cozier. It’s also budget-friendly for its size!

3. Round Coffee Table — A Parent’s Best Friend

We chose a round coffee table for one reason: kids. No sharp corners for little heads to bump into! We’ve had it for four years, and it’s held up incredibly well—sturdy, heavy, and only minor scratches visible up close.

4. Tripod Floor Lamp — The Perfect Mood Setter

As a content creator, I love the aesthetic of this tripod lamp. The wooden stand with a simple white shade adds warmth to the space. I’ve also been adding more light sources around the house—having multiple lighting options instead of relying on the ceiling light makes the home feel much cozier in the evenings.

5. IKEA Cushions & Throws: Small But Impactful

We have a mix of IKEA cushions that add contrast to our sofa. The mustard ones bring a lovely pop of color, especially in spring and summer. We also own multiple IKEA throws in beige, dark blue, and pink—lightweight but cozy, perfect for fort-building with the kids!

6. BILLY Bookcase — A Classic for a Reason

We needed extra storage for our (small but growing) book collection, and the Billy bookcase was the perfect solution. We even did a simple DIY hack—painting it to match the walls initially before switching to white for a brighter look. It’s great for books, toys, and craft supplies for the kids.

7. Customizable IKEA TV Unit — Organized & Chic

We love our TV unit because it’s completely customizable. We started with four base cabinets, added a wooden top from the Besta range, and mounted LED strip lights behind it for ambient lighting. It stores board games, chargers, and even our printer—keeping everything tidy.

8. TROFAST Storage — The Ultimate Organizer

This modular storage system has been a lifesaver. We originally used it for my son’s LEGO collection but later repurposed it for understair storage. It now holds batteries, measuring tape, and all those little items that tend to get lost around the house.

9. Easel: A Fun Essential for Kids

Our kids adore the IKEA easel. Whether they’re drawing or playing “teacher,” it’s been a great purchase that has lasted years.

10. Slim Shoe Cupboard — Keeping the Entryway Clutter-Free

Our hallway is small, and I didn’t want a pile of shoes cluttering up the space. This slim IKEA shoe cupboard is a simple but effective solution—each family member gets a cubby for their everyday shoes.

11. PAX Wardrobes — Customizable & Long-Lasting

We had a fully customized PAX wardrobe in our previous home. When we moved, we repurposed it—splitting the units between our kids’ rooms. That’s what I love about IKEA: you can adapt their pieces as your needs change.

12. SLÄKT Bed — Smart Storage for a Growing Kid

Our son’s bed is a single with two massive drawers underneath, perfect for storing LEGO and keeping the floor clear. The hidden storage makes tidying up so much easier.

13. Desk & Pegboard — A Space-Saving Duo

We added a small MICKE desk with an Ikea pegboard above it in our son’s room. The pegboard holds all his pens, papers, and supplies, keeping the desk surface clear. Such a simple setup, but it works brilliantly in a small space!

14. KULLEN Dressers — Functional & Timeless

We’ve owned these simple IKEA dressers since our London flat days, and they’ve traveled with us to multiple homes. They fit inside our wardrobe perfectly, adding extra drawer space without taking up more room.

Why I Love IKEA (And Why You Might, Too)

IKEA furniture has followed us through different countries and homes. It’s affordable, customizable, and—when chosen wisely—can last for years. More importantly, I love how easy it is to adapt pieces as our life evolves. Whether it’s upgrading a TV unit, repurposing a wardrobe, or finding new storage solutions, IKEA makes it simple.

If you’re looking for long-lasting, minimalist-friendly furniture, I can’t recommend these items enough. Hope this helps if you’re planning your next Ikea haul!
